Future Stars Shine in Derby Classic

Louisville and Kentucky recruits showed their stuff on Saturday at the Wazoo Sports Derby Festival Classic, when the Gold team defeated the Black team 151-145 (defense anyone?). But the real stars of the night were the three players headed to play for Tom Crean at Indiana next season: Christian Watford, a 6-foot-8 SF, Maurice Creek, a 6-foot-5 SG, and Jordan Hulls, a 6-foot PG and Indiana's Mr. Basketball. Watford scored 26 points to go along with 7 rebounds, displaying the best all-around offensive game in the contest, while Creek dropped 21 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Hulls, who was also the night's 3-Point Contest winner, scored 6 points on 2 of 5 shooting. Both shots were three balls.

Top Louisville recruits Peyton Siva and Rakeem Buckles also had impressive showings. Siva continued to show that he is a true point guard, dishing out 11 assists while scoring 15 points. Buckles finished the night with a Black team high 26 points, he also pulled down 6 rebounds. Two other Louisville recruits, Stephan Van Treese and Mike Marra, scored 11 and 10 points repectively. Mike Marra also won the Derby Festival Dunk Competition, throwing down a windmill dunk off of the backboard.

Two Kentucky commits also competed in the Classic, Daniel Orton and Jon Hood. Hood finished the game with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Orton scored 12 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out 6 assists.

Other notable performances on the night included:

30 point, 7 rebound, 6 assist outing by Florida State signee Michael Snaer.
24 points on 5-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc by Oklahoma State commit Raymond Penn.
5-of-6 from the field for 11 points and 8 assists from Kansas signee Elijah Johnson. Johnson also threw down the dunk of the night in the final seconds...

Fenway set to host next NHL outdoor game

Alright, so I'm a hockey fan. And I think this is pretty cool. A hockey game in Fenway will definitely be quite the spectacle. The only thing I have against it is that Fenway Park is probably the smallest possible venue you could pick to host an outdoor game. Fenway only seats about 37,000 fans.

If the NHL really wants to put on a HUGE outdoor game, it will only be a matter of time they book Beaver Stadium (Penn St. footbal stadium) in State College, PA for a game between the Pittsburgh Penguins, which has 2 of the 3 most recognizable players in the league and their cross-state rivals the Philadelphia Flyers. Beaver Stadium seats a little over 107,000 people, and there is no doubt in my mind the NHL would fill that place if those 2 teams were playing. Imagine seeing a hockey game with 107,000 other people! It would be amazing and great for the sport.

More big news from the Kentucky recruiting front. Jody Demling of the Courier-Journal reports that according to Scout.com analyst Evan Daniels, Five-star big man Daniel Orton has asked Kentucky for a release from his letter of intent after committing to the Cats in November . Also reported is that Memphis commit Nolan Dennis has asked for a release from his LOI and will look at Kentucky as a possible option. Dennis is just now coming onto the Kentucky scene, so here is some info:

DeMarcus Cousins chooses Cal & Cats

DeMarcus Cousins has made his pick...for the third (and presumably the final) time. The #4 ranked prospect in the ESPNU100 and the #2 overall prospect according to Rivals.com has decided to attend The University of Kentucky to continue his basketball career.

Cousins, a 6-foot-9, 250-pound forward out of Mobile (Ala.) Leflore High School, had previously committed to UAB before switching his commitment to Memphis. He then backed out of that commitment when former Memphis coach John Calipari left for the head coaching position at Kentucky. Cousins has stated that he also considered Washington and Kansas State this time around, before deciding to play for the Wildcats.

He is now the third player in the class for Kentucky, joining highly-touted big man Daniel Orton and Kentucky Mr. Basketball Jon Hood. More recruits are expected to follow Cousins to UK in the next few weeks.

"I'm working on John Wall and Xavier Henry right now," Cousins said. "I think we have a chance to get them."

Big news for the Big Blue faithful out there, as the Wildcats could legitimately contend for a national championship as early as next season. Some things will need to take place in order for this to happen, most importantly a few dropped scholarships. Calipari seems to be on track, finding the right players to fit his system, and essentially dumping the scraps. Michael Porter announced his intention to leave the team and focus on personal matters yesterday, and Jodie Meeks will test the draft waters (no agent has been signed so he can still return). Additionally, six players that previously intended to play for the Wildcats have already rescinded their commitments. It is expected that others will transfer, leave the team, or declare for the draft as well.

Vegas currently has Kentucky as a co-favorite to win it all next season, along with North Carolina (surprise), at 14-1 odds. Louisville is tied with Duke for the second position, at 25-1.

The New York Times' college basketball blog also gets in on the action, with their picks for next season's champion. The top five looks like this:

Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Kentucky G Jodie Meeks will test the waters and enter the NBA Draft.

Meeks has not hired an agent, which means if he is not satisfied with his status in the draft this season, he can withdraw his name and return to Kentucky.

Meeks averaged 23.7 PPG this year for the Wildcats and was a 2nd team All-American.

North Carolina wins 5th National Title

They basically had it in the bad after the first TV timeout. North Carolina routed Michigan State 89-72 as they just rolled through the tournament. UNC was the preseason favorite to win it, and in the end, they proved to be a whole lot better than everyone else. No one got within 12 of them the entire tournament. Here are the highlights:

Jay Cutler, who has been involved on a crazy saga over the past few weeks in Denver has been traded to the Chicago Bears for QB Kyle Orton, 2 first round draft picks ('09 & '10) and a 3rd rond pick in '09. Wow, that seems like a lot to be giving up if you're the Bears, just my opinion.

Cutler has never won a playoff game and you're going to give up 2 first rounders and a 3rd rounder for him? Insane. This does give Chicago a quarterback since Grossman and Orton are both horrible, but at the same time, how good is Cutler? Not that good.

The East beat the West today in the McDonald's All-American Game 113-110. It was a great chance to see future Cardinal, Peyton Siva, and boy did he impress me. He's one of the quickest guards I've seen. Here's the box score. Siva finished with 6 points and a game-high 9 assists.

Memphis commits Xavier Henry and DeMarcus Cousins have reopened their commitments. Cousins' new #1 choice is Kentucky.

Jodie Meeks discusses the hiring of Calipari and if it will affect his decision to turn pro:

The U of L Baseball team (18-8) defeated Ball State (12-12) today 5-4 in 12 innings thanks to a walk-off sacrifice fly by Alec Lowery.

Jennie Rees from the Courier-Journal wrote an article today saying that Churchill Downs will test out racing at night in the spring meet this year. They will start racing at 6 PM on June 19th, June 26th, and July 2nd. Races would conclude at around 11 PM.

Donte Stallworth of the Cleveland Browns is in a lot of trouble and will be charged with DUI manslaughter after accidently killing a pedestrian on March 14th. Stallworth had a .126 blood-alcohol level. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison.

The Wooden All-American Team is out and Louisville's Terrence Williams is on the list. There were 5 members from the Big East Conference to be named to the team, more than any other conference.

This is crazy, UK fans are looking at the door of the Athletic Department at the University of Memphis, trying to spot Calipari leaving.

Calipari to Cats May Cause Top Recruits to Follow

Kentucky fans are dreaming about what's to come, and with their men's basketball program currently searching for a new head coach, they should dream big. Current Memphis coach John Calipari may be on the verge of signing a deal to be that new head coach at the University of Kentucky, a deal that would make Calipari the highest paid coach in the land of college basketball. Kentucky fans should be attentive to the possibility that members of Calipari's recruiting class at Memphis may follow suit and join the coach at UK.

One Memphis commitment, DeMarcus Cousins, is of particular interest. Cousins, who stands at 6'9 and weighs in at 250 lbs, is one of the top players in the class of 2009 according to nearly every major recruiting database, ranked the #2 overall player by Rivals and the #2 center in the class by Scout. He is a force on the low block offensively, extremely tough to score over on the defensive side of the ball due to his length and athleticism, and has a nice handle with the ball for a big man.

Also of interest is Memphis signee, Xavier Henry, another highly touted prospect in the 2009 class, rated as the #3 overall player by Rivals and the top shooting guard by both Rivals and Scout. A lefty and a prolific scorer from anywhere within 22 feet, the 6'6, 210 lb. wing out of Putnam City, Oklahoma has a pure jump shot with textbook form. Henry excels at slashing and finishing at the rim, using great body control and tremendous athleticism to impose his will.

One more player to keep an eye on is the top overall prospect by both Rivals and Scout, 6'4 point guard John Wall, who has Memphis high on his list and could add Kentucky to that list if Calipari is hired. Freakishly long and gifted, this guy can flat out play. See for yourself:

DeMarcus Cousins is the most likely to make the move, as he has not yet signed his letter of intent to Memphis, and will be able to freely join Calipari at UK. The NCAA has a history of being lenient with signees wanting to get out of a letter of intent due to coaching changes, so Xavier Henry joining the Wildcats next year as well is not out of the question. Calipari still has some recruiting to do if he plans to land John Wall over the likes of Duke, Baylor, Kansas, Miami, and N.C. State, and Kentucky may be just the thing to sway him one way or another.

So in the event that two of these three (or even all three) players join Calipari at Kentucky, and he can convince current UK signee Daniel Orton to stick around, next year's Kentucky line-up could look something like this: (This is also assuming that Kentucky loses none of their current key players. In other words, this is a best-case scenario for UK fans)

Assuming all three players join the Wildcats

1) John Wall/ DeAndre Liggins/ Michael Porter/ Kevin Galloway
2) Jodie Meeks/ Xavier Henry/ John Wall
3) Xavier Henry/ Darius Miller/ Ramon Harris/
4) Patrick Patterson/ DeMarcus Cousins/ Perry Stevenson
5) Daniel Orton/ DeMarcus Cousins/ Patrick Patterson

Every position could potentially be filled with a future NBA player. Everything working out exactly this way is a long shot. It would require losing a few current players on the roster for this to take place, but it would immediately put Kentucky back into the championship picture, which would be a phenomenal turnaround over a period of just one off-season. Dream big Kentucky fans.

The 3rd seeded Lady Cards were in action tonight in the Elite 8 of the Women's NCAA Tournament and defeated the 1 seed, Maryland 77-60 to advance to the school's first ever Final Four. They will play the winner of Oklahoma and Purdue on Sunday in St. Louis. Angel McCoughtry led all scorers with 21 points and also added 14 rebounds.

Still no official word yet on UK's next head coach. However, it seems like the school and John Calipari are close to working something out that will involve an astronomical amount of money.

Well, it's a sad day in Louisville tonight. The Cards bowed out of the NCAA Tournament with a 64-52 loss to the Michigan State Spartans. You can vent all you want on our message board.

The Tarheels from North Carolina also stamped their ticket to the Final Four with a 72-60 win over Oklahoma. They dominated from start to finish. That completes the Final Four with Michigan State, Connecticut, Villanova, and North Carolina making it this season.

Tiger Woods won his first tournament of the year today in the Arnold Palmer Invitational with a birdie putt on the 18th hole. Woods came back from 5 strokes down to win, matching his largest comeback of his career. I guess he's back.

So WHAS news broke today that Billy Gillispie had been fired and that it would be announced at a press conference tomorrow morning. WHAS broke the story at 9:30 PM tonight. UK followed that with:

“UK men’s basketball coach Billy Gillispie has not been fired. There have been no meetings between Gillispie and UK officials today and there is no scheduled press conference for tomorrow”

So basically, no one has any clue what's going on. WHAS is still reporting he is fired.

In the NCAA today:
#1 Pitt edged out #4 Xavier 60-55
#1 UCONN beat #5 Purdue 72-60
#3 Missouri held on against #2 Memphis 102-91
#3 Villanova spanked #2 Duke 77-54

NFL commish Roger Goodell wants the regular season to expand to 17 or 18 games hopefully as early as 2011. In order for this to happen, a new collective bargaining agreement will have to be reached between the owners and the players' union.

The University of Kentucky Wildcats are out of the NIT after their 77-67 loss tonight to Notre Dame in South Bend. Let the coaching rumors begin! (like it hasn't already) But seriously, it's going to be interesting to see how Barnhart deals with this situation. As far as I see it, I think it's a lose-lose situation for the Cats. No matter what they do, it will look bad.

UCONN allegedly committed major recruiting violations when recruiting former guard Nate Miles. ESPN reports that Miles "was provided with lodging, transportation, restaurant meals and representation between 2006 and 2008 by Josh Nochimson, a former UConn student manager who had become a professional sports agent who once represented ex-Huskies star Richard Hamilton." That will be something to keep an eye on for awhile.

Lance Armstrong underwent surgery on his collarbone today after crashing in the 2nd stage of a race in northern Spain. The 7-time Tour de France winner is still expected to participate in this years race.

Overtime Thoughts 3/23

I added a section on the right hand side where you will be able to listen to past broadcasts of The Overtime Show. They're not great quality, but they're the best we can do for now. Hopefully podcasts on iTunes will be soon...I still have to figure that out.

The Kentucky Wildcats were in action today in the 2nd round of the NIT. They played the #1 seed Creighton from the Missouri Valley Conference. UK won 65-63 as they won it with a Jodie Meeks 2-pointer with about 10 seconds left. They will now travel to South Bend to face Notre Dame.

Pat Forde points out in an article on ESPN.com that the tournament has lacked a cinderella this year. It is the first time ever where all the 1, 2, and 3 seeds have made the Sweet Sixteen and only 3 teams still in have not made a Final Four. Of all years, I would have thought this year would a year where upsets would be abundant considering the way the regular season went, but it has been anything but. He also goes on to say that if Arizona, a team with a national title, 4 final fours, and 25 straight NCAA Tournament appearances, is the biggest surprise then something's different.

Curt Schilling retired today. He finished his career with a 216-146 record and a 3.46 ERA. He also is 15th all-time in strikeouts with 3,116. He owns the lowest postseason ERA and winning percentage in the history of ML baseball. He won 3 World Series titles in his career. Schilling is also the subject of our poll tonight.

And in a shocker, Terrell Owens missed a voluntary workout today for his new team, the Buffalo Bills.

Alright, Michael and I are back from our trip to Florida for some sun and Spring Training and are ready to roll again.

The Cardinals survived a tough Siena team tonight in a 79-72 win and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen in Indianapolis to face the 12th seeded Arizona Wildcats on Friday.

Also, just a thought, Indianapolis isn't too far away. Let's snag up some tickets and turn Lucas Oil Stadium into Freedom Hall North. I just got my tickets on Ticketmaster. You can get all 3 games for as low as $90, which is a steal. You don't have to pay for a hotel cause it's a short trip there and back. If Louisville wins and UCONN beats Pitt, they will split the Big East Championship. If Louisville wins and Pitt beats UCONN, Louisville will be the outright champ. Ok, I can't speak for Michael, but storming the court after beating the #23 team in the country is stupid. That's what Penn State did tonight. I could see maybe if Penn State was a team that was 7-24 or something, but they're 21-9. I just had a huge phone argument with a buddy of mine who was at the game trying to defend the students. He argued that it's not a basketball school and that the win basically clinched a NCAA Tournament bid, which is true. I still don't think that warrants a court-storming. Vote in our poll on your thoughts on if Penn State students were right to storm the court.

Louisville's seniors (and Earl Clark) made sure they were sent off with a bang tonight and made sure the Cards were still in the running for a Big East Championship in a 95-78 win over Seton Hall. Earl Clark went off for a double-double with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Terrence Williams was two assists shy of a triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists. Senior Andre McGee added 11 points and freshman Terrence Jennings added 14 points off the bench. The Cards are now tied with UCONN at 15-2 in the Big East heading into Morgantown on Saturday night.

Kentucky could have played itself off the bubble tonight, and not in the good way. They picked a bad time to have their worst loss of the season as they lost to a 205th ranked Georgia team at home that had only two conference wins 90-85. It's going to start getting really interesting from here until Selection Sunday to see how this UK team will be handled. In our opinion, the Cats now have to win the SEC Tournament to be safe. There was only one game of note tonight in college basketball and that was #16 Villanova's 77-60 win over Notre Dame. I'm pretty sure that officially knocks Notre Dame off of the bubble.

Your #8 Louisville women's basketball team played the final game of their season tonight and won their school record-tying 27th game of the year in a 66-61 win at Marquette. Angel McCoughtry notched a double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds.

Louisville first baseman Andrew Clark was named Big East Player of the Week last week. He batted .375 with 2 HR and 7 RBI and helped lead the Cardinals to a perfect 4-0 week.

Wide Reciever T.J. Houshmandzadeh signed a 5-year deal worth over $40 million with the Seattle Seahawks.

To go back to college basketball, this weeks rankings are out. Louisville is still #6 in both polls.

Also, not really a surprise, but Earl Clark IS going to the NBA after this year and will partake in Senior Night festivities in Wednesday's game. Vote on our poll on whether you think he should be able to do that or not.

Overtime thoughts from the weekend

First off I would like to apologize that we haven't posted all weekend. Jim and I were in Pittsburgh and were not able to post.

A lot happened in the world of sports this weekend worth talking about. First on the local side of things the Cards and the Cats played important games. The Cards came out victorious, while the Cats continue their slide.

Number 6 ranked Louisville defeated the #10 ranked Marquette Golden Eagles 62-58 yesterday in front of over 20,000 people in Freedom Hall. The Kentucky Wildcats fell on Saturday to the #18 LSU Tigers by a score of 73-70.

In the latest bracketology Lunardi has the Cards still at that number 2 seed, while he has the Cats barely hanging on as a 10 seed. I think all of this March Madness talk and seeding will be a great topic on the show tomorrow night.

On the national side of things, baseball is back in full swing(no pun intended) with spring training now underway. Also Shaq is apparently back and Tiger loses in the second round of the match play tournament. A lot more to get to but hear were some cliff notes from the weekend.

There will be another post at the end of the night tonight from todays events and other things we may have forgotten. We have an action packed show for you all tomorrow night at 9pm. Make sure you tune in.

Stewart isn't exactly a great player that will be missed, but this is starting to become a disturbing trend with Gillispie and players quitting/leaving. It also makes one wonder if there will be more defections before long.

Once again, thanks to everyone who listened to our inaugural show last night! It was a lot of fun to do and we can't wait to do it again next Tuesday. Also, please help the show grow by telling everyone you know about it.

So last night, we talked about how UK had a game tonight. I guess they forgot. Because they sure as heck did not show up to play in Columbia, SC as they got hammered by the Gamecocks 77-59. Jodie Meeks scored 18 and Patrick Patterson had 28 points. But like like we were saying last night, someone else needs to step up. Only three other Wildcats scored and the highest scorer of those three was Darius Miller with 5 points. That's not going to cut it. South Carolina's Devan Downey led the Gamecocks with 21 points.

There was a HUGE Big East game tonight in Milwaukee, WI as the #10 Marquette Golden Eagles faced off against the #2 UCONN Huskies. UCONN pulled ahead at the end and won 93-82. Marquette suffered a big blow in the first half when they lost PG Dominic James for the season with a broken bone in his foot. A.J. Price went off for 36 points.

#11 Florida finished their 3-game sweep over our #17 Louisville baseball team with a 3-2 win today in Gainesville. The Cards return home with a game this Wednesday against Eastern Kentucky at 2 PM.

Oklahoma's Blake Griffin's status is still uncertain for the Sooners' game against Kansas on Big Monday. Griffin suffered a concussion in the first half of last night's loss to Texas.

Phil Mickelson had a 4-shot lead going into the final round of the Northern Trust Open today. He somehow lost that lead and came from behind to defeat Steve Stricker by one shot to earn his 35th career PGA win. It was his first tournament of the year. All eyes in the golf world will be on Tiger Woods next weekend as he will play for the first time since last year's US Open, which he won on basically one leg.

Thanks to everyone who attempted to predict the score for today's Louisville/Cincinnati game. We will be having that contest for the remainder of the season. No one got it right. Co-host Michael Vanover got one team's score right and was one off on the other one's. See, we know what we're talking about here.

#7 Louisville was up to the test on the road today and defeated Cincinnati 72-63. The game knocks UC to 0-8 against top 25 teams as their at-large bid hopes are falling away. They are going to have to get a marquee win in order to get in. Louisville goes to 21-5 on the year and 12-2 in the Big East. Terrence Williams led all scorers with 20 points.

Kentucky swept the season series against Tennessee today with a 77-58 win over the Vols. Tennessee simply was no match against the Cats today. From the opening tip, it just seemed like they had absolutely no idea what they were doing. UK's team...wait, I mean Jodie Meeks was held 3-less for the first time this season.

Washington State stunned #15 UCLA 82-81 in a thriller.

#22 Butler beat Davidson 75-63 in a Bracketbuster game. That one probably ended Davidson's at-large bid possibilities.

Due to #1 UCONN's loss to Pitt, #2 Oklahoma's loss to Texas, and #3 UNC's loss to Maryland, Pitt will most likely move to #1 for the second time this season. What happened to all this talk about the ACC's top 3 teams being better than the Big East's top 3? My guess is that the top 6 next week will be Pitt, UCONN, Oklahoma, Memphis, UNC, Louisville. That seems pretty Big East heavy.

The #1 wide receiver in the upcoming NFL draft, Michael Crabtree, suffered a stress fracture in his left foot that will force him to sit out 6-10 weeks and will not be able to participate in any pre-draft workouts.

Mountain West Conference commissioner Craig Thompson is on a mission to show how the BCS is unfair in that the MWC champion does not get an auto bid to a BCS bowl game, but the 6 BCS conference champs do. He is working on a proposal to change the current system. I, for one, think the Mountain West champ deserves the exact amount of respect and credit as other BCS conference champions. Arizona QB Kurt Warner is leaning towards coming back next year after leading the Cardinals to the Super Bowl last season.

There are a lot of mixed feelings on what should be done about steroid users in baseball among you all who voted in the poll. But a 1-year ban ended up getting the most support with 37% of the vote.

If you all remember correctly, Tennessee is the team who forgot to play defense at the same time Jodie Meeks decided to make it rain all over Knoxville, thus resulting in a 54 point performance in Kentucky's 90-72 win over the Vols on January 13th.

Joe Lunardi's latest Bracketology is out. Your Cards are a 2-seed squaring off against Robert Morris from the Northeast Conference. The Big Ten made a big splash in this edition with 8 teams in, ahead of the ACC (7) and the Big East (7). Also, Louisville is 5th on the S-Curve, which means they are the first in line for a 1-seed if UNC, Oklahoma, UCONN, or Pitt were to falter down the stretch.

A-Rod seems to be in a whole whirl of trouble. This is getting ugly. I might have to rescind my argument I made in an article I wrote when news first broke about his steroid use. From the NBA realm, Amare Stoudemire of the Suns had surgery on his eye today that could force him to miss the remainder of the season. He'll be out "about 8 weeks."

LeBron James scored a season high 55 points in the Cavs' 111-103 win over Milwaukee. He scored 16 points in the first 3 minutes of the 2nd half.

In baseball, Baltimore 2nd baseman Brian Roberts broke the bank with a 4-year, $40 million extension today.

It looks like Cleveland will have a good ole fashioned quarterback battle between Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson next season.

Super Bowl winning kicker Jeff Reed of the Steelers was fined $543.50 for breaking a towel dispenser and then using profane language at an employee of a supermarket after realizing there were no towels in the restroom.

Let's lead off with some news from your #7 Louisville Cardinals. One of their recruits, PG Peyton Siva from Seattle, WA was named a McDonald's All-American. Siva will enroll at the University of Louisville this fall. North Carolina led all colleges with 4 McDonald's All-Americans this year. Representing the Big East, Villanova has 2 players, Pitt has 1, and UCONN has 1.

A bunch of people were franchised today in the NFL: Dunta Robinson (Houston), Max Starks (Pittsburgh), Leroy Hill (Seattle), Bo Scaife (Tennessee), and Julius Peppers (Carolina). The Julius Peppers situation will be a good one to look at over the next few months as he has expressed how much he wants to leave Carolina.

42 year old Tom Glavine signed a one year deal today with his original team, the Atlanta Braves. The contract could pay him as much as $4.5 million if all incentives are reached.

Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes was fined $10,000 today by the NFL for his touchdown celebration after making the game-winning catch in Pittsburgh's win over Arizona. But hey, who can blame him? He's going to Disney World. Also, he sold his gloves that he caught that ball with for $70,200, all of which was donated to charity.

The NFL Combine is officially underway in Indianapolis. It will go on until Tuesday. You can even go to their website and vote what your favorite NFL Combine drill is!!

After rejecting a contract extension earlier in the week, Texas Tech football coach Mike Leach agreed to a 5-year $12.7 million deal. He declined the previous offer due to a clause that would have triggered his firing and a $1.5 million fine if he interviewed for any other job.

Also, we are doing this so we can get some interaction from you all. If you have anything to say about anything we have listed, please post your thoughts in the comments section. This way we get feedback and can understand what you all are thinking more effectively.

Your #7 Louisville Cardinals (20-5, 11-2) defeated the Providence Friars (16-10, 8-6) tonight 94-76. The Friars hung with Louisville and even led until Providence all of a sudden forgot to shoot and went about 10 minutes without making a shot. Six Cardinals scored in double figures and Earl Clark had a double-double.

Ken Griffey Jr. is returning to the Seattle Mariners where he played from 1989-2000. He signed a one-year deal worth a guarenteed $2 million with another possible $2.5 million in incentives.

In the NFL, Baltimore's Terrell Suggs, Tampa Bay's Antonio Bryant, and San Diego's Darren Sproles were all franchised today.
